Your brakes are one of the most important parts of your car. They are what prevent you from having an accident, enabling you to stop when you need to. If there is something wrong with them, it is inadvisable to drive until the problem is sorted.
Here are some things that may be wrong with your brakes:
- Old brake pads. Some brake pads will last for 60,00 miles and others will need to be replaced after only 25,000 miles. It just depends on your vehicle. Listen out for squeaking, crunching noises when braking.
- Not enough fluid. If you hear crunching, your brakes may not have enough lubrication, causing scraping and friction. Book your car in for a service to check this out.
- Rotor issues. Look out for vibrations or shaking in the steering wheel when you apply the brakes. This could indicate problems with the rotors, discs that are inside the wheels.
